Mike Lyons

Trooper

Mia x Milo
Trooper still seems to amaze me with how great of a dog he is.. his hunting drive is top notch. Complete machine in the pheasant field (first day in the field placed 30 birds he flushed 33 and we killed 29. Second day 16 birds places and 15 birds flushed and killed).  His temper when around people/kids is always great.. I have never to this day even heard this dog growl, not even playing around with other dogs. A straight lover wanting to be pet he never jumps up or acts super wild. Turns right into that great hunting dog when he hits the field. I have had 3 labs in my life so far and I can say this is the first lab that just wants to do nothing but please our whole family. Thank you again for such a great dog. The Lyons family!

Jagr
Duke x Sweet

Two years ago, I reached out to Tim to inquire about a hunting dog. I was lucky enough to get a yellow lab male from a litter only a couple months later.
Tim and Patti trained Jagr in basic retriever training starting at 7 months old. They were kind enough to allow me to come whenever I wished during the training process to observe and learn all I could. If you're fortunate enough to observe Tim Doane train dogs, understand he is a man of few words, but when he speaks pay close attention as the wisdom is invaluable.
I cannot thank Tim and Patti enough for the work they do and the dogs they provide. They gave me the tools and knowledge to continue my dogs training into more advanced subjects with such a concrete foundation and the confidence to know that I was capable of furthering his training. Jagr is two years old now and has over 450 retrieves on ducks and geese.
Thank you, Tim and Patti, you provided me with not only the best hunting partner I could have ever asked for, but also my best friend.

Just do it!  If you’re looking for a well-bred retriever: Kingseed Kennels.  If you already have a dog and are looking for retriever training: Kingseed Kennels.  If you’re looking for a puppy and training: Kingseed Kennels.  As a family we’ve been in each of these situations and each time Kingseed Kennels delivers.

Our Kingseed story started 12 years ago when we dropped our one-year-old chocolate lab off for retriever training.  Within a few weeks Tim called and stated he wasn’t taking another cent of our money until we took the dog to an ophthalmologist.  Tim was right, our dog had inherited a vision issue and wasn’t going to be able to retrieve at the level we were looking for.  We were amazed how quickly Tim picked up on this and blessed to have found a trainer with so much integrity and honesty.

Within a year we had bought our first Kingseed pup, Honey, and ran her through Tim’s training program. Showing up to a morning hunt with this Kingseed bred and trained dog has always given me a sense of pride; because you know if you did your part that day, she was going to put on a show.  And up until we retired her number this fall, she did just that, on over 3,000 birds, across multiple states and two countries.  And oh yeah, she’s been nothing but a gentle angel with our two children.

Patti is amazing with the puppies! She knows every detail on them, takes meticulous care of them, loves them like she is keeping them all herself, and will send you as many adorable pictures as your heart can handle!

Tim is the most dedicated and determined trainer we know. He does everything with a purpose, his training is proven, and he not only trains the dogs but also their owners. His knowledge, expertise, and training program is above all, the best!

This past fall when we said goodbye to our chocolate and hung Honeys jersey in the rafters, only one name came to mind for our next recruit: Kingseed Kennels.

I was fortunate to have been referred to Kingseed Kennels in the spring of 2018. Our young dog Mack was sent in for 6 months of gun dog training. Throughout the training Tim communicated updates and at times sent videos. Tim was available for phone calls and discussions as needed. Expectations and limitations were clearly identified and discussed.

Mack was very well taken care of and provided exceptional facilities.

Throughout the training I was welcomed to come and work with my dog. Tim was very

professional in the handling of the dogs and dog owners. I was most impressed with the

expectations of basic obedience and focus on line manners.

5 years later Mack continues to be an obedient gun dog and wonderful family member. His training with Tim made him a pleasure to hunt with in upland fields and waterfowl marshes. I will absolutely use Kingseed Kennel for my future gun dog training, and I strongly recommend their services.

I have been very satisfied with my Kingseed Kennel experience over the past 12 years.

My 11-year-old black lab Amos is winding down, while 4-year-old yellow lab Harry is near his prime.  They are both titled in HRC with training from Tim and excel at waterfowl and upland hunting.  And now 7-month-old Lucas, my third Kingseed dog, is being trained by Tim.

You can’t go wrong with Kingseed’s genetics and training!

As an avid waterfowl hunter, I’ve owned and appreciated quality gun dogs my whole life.

Recently I purchased a black lab puppy from Kingseed Kennels, named her Annie Mae and contracted Tim Doane to train her for waterfowl hunting. No one offers superior lab Breedings or better trained dogs than Kingseed Kennels. Annie Mae enjoyed her first hunting season in the fall of 2022. I couldn’t be happier with her performance in the field, or the training provided by Tim Doane. Anyone interested in owning a world class waterfowl hunting companion will not regret contacting Tim Doane and Kingseed Kennels.

I would highly recommend Kingseed kennels for breeding and training  your waterfowl dog. My experience with Kingseed dogs starts in 2011,  when Tim Doane helped me locate our dog Rocky from a recent breeding of  Kingseed stud dog Ely, with a female named Megan. Rocky's current owner  at the time had to surrender Rocky due to health issues, and Tim felt  that Rocky would be a good dog.

Clearly a beautiful dog, he was also smart and could be naughty. We  sent Rocky to Alabama with Tim that January for training, and I was  very surprised when he got home to say the least. Our naughty, strong  willed pup came back an obedient well behaved dog. Tim advised that  Rocky had what it took to complete his training, so we sent him away  again to learn blind retrieves and complete the training process. During  that summer of 2012, Tim invited me out to train several times so I  could learn the process and commands. I learned that training the owner  is almost as important as training the dog!

That fall, I took Rocky out with my oldest son for youth waterfowl  weekend for Rocky's first real hunt. His first 2 retrieves were  difficult blind retrieves deep in the cattails on mallards that my son  knocked down, but only wounded. He ran them both perfectly as if he'd  been doing this for years, and I know we would have lost both birds if  it weren't for an exceptional dog. Over the years, I couldn't even begin  to count how many cripples that dog has brought to me that we never  would have gotten otherwise.

When we hunted during early goose that fall, Rocky struggled with  his first dead giant Canada goose. I called Tim, and he explained the  training process, and how I could back up a few steps at home and  correct the problem. We did a drill with bumpers, and then a goose  bumper. Finally, we laid out the frozen goose, and once Rocky understood  what I wanted, he picked up that goose several times. He's never once  again struggled with a goose, but I learned that if the dog ever gets  out of shape, with the training process Tim uses, there are clear simple  steps you can work through to get them back on track.

We had a good year that fall of 2012, and Rocky had 200 plus  retrieves including a swan retrieve that my sons will never forget. One  time in Michigan's late goose season, we knocked down a goose that flew  almost 1/2 mile into some heavy cover. I didn't have permission where  the goose landed, but I thought I'd try to send Rocky and see what  happened. He was busy marking the dead birds that fell in the decoys,  and didn't see the bird sail off, so I'd have to run a blind retrieve.  Rocky took a line from me, and took off on a dead sprint. He took a  prefect line, and finally was so far away that I'd have to let his  training take over and trust that he knew what to do. He disappeared  into the thick cover, and came out a few minutes later with that goose!

I could fill a book with amazing Rocky stories. If you've ever  hunted with him, then you've been in the presence of greatness, and my  hunting crew will back that up 100%.

My oldest son Andy got a Kingseed dog named Ammo 4 years ago, that  was also an Ely pup. Ammo is another really great dog, and he has the  sweetest personality I maybe have ever seen in a lab. Rocky is now too  old to make the North Dakota trip, so fall of 2022 I took Ammo.  My son couldn't go this year, and I was a little concerned about Ammo following  my commands as he's used to taking orders from my son Andy. Tim's  training took over and Ammo behaved perfectly. Our first morning we  heard a lot of shooting at a nearby pond, so after those guys left, I  decided to run Ammo around that pond. He found 4 very alive crippled  birds. Ammo also had 2 swan retrieves that day. He was a tired boy!

It's no coincidence that these 2 dogs that we've gotten from  Kingseed have been the best 2 hunting dogs I've ever worked with. The  breeding and training program is simply stellar. Tim is always available  to help with any training issues that may arise at home.

If your in the market to try your hand at having a top of the line  retriever, I'd never go anywhere else. Yes, the training is expensive at  the time, but over the life of each of these dogs Rocky and Ammo, it's  simply the best money I've ever spent on waterfowl hunting.
